M&M: Systematic Mastery and Knowing Your Platform

Mindset and Marketing for Coaches and Creators

Thursday’s Mindset and Marketing for Coaches and Creators gives you actionable frames on (1) how to think about your business and how you can be more effective and (2) different shifts you can utilize to take your personal brand message and marketing to the next level.

Mindset

I can only effectively master one thing at a time

As a coach or creator, getting caught up in being a jack of all trades can happen. We’re expected to run the business, market our product or service, create content, and deliver on the promise.

This can get VERY tiring if you’re not careful.

But here’s the thing.

You can become great at different aspects of your craft and business systematically. Whether it’s writing, video, course creation, or coaching, focusing on one main skill in a particular season and mastering that skill goes a long way.

Once you have a certain level of unconscious competence with that skill, move on to the next one.

Marketing

Know your platform

If you’re using social media to market your product or service it’s not enough these days to just post.

In fact, I would go as far as to say that if you’re just posting and you don’t have a strategy specific to that particular platform in order to optimize reach and use the different types of tools available, then you’re wasting a lot of effort.

You also should be current with best practices and what these platforms favor and what they penalize you for.

Let’s take Instagram for example.

Even though it’s common practice (I’ve been doing this for a while too) Instagram and Facebook don’t want you to encourage people to engage with specific calls to action like….

“Drop a 🔥in the comments if this lands.”
“DM me the word LETSGO to get started.”

It’s called “engagement bait” and if you know this you can avoid your reach being limited.

Here are the Facebook guidelines if you’re interested in checking it out.

Know the rules of engagement and understand how to optimally use the platforms you’re on.

Results speak louder than words

I’d LOVE to hear how you’re applying these strategies and what results you’re seeing. Send in your story or how you put this into practice, and what you say as a result. I’ll publish it in the newsletter. When you do, let me know if you’d prefer to remain anonymous and I’ll just publish the story minus the name.
