There’s one thing that will make your business stand out in a crowded marketplace above anything else.
And it’s the last thing coaches and creators focus on.
But when you do this and do it well.
You will stand out.
Because you can have…
- The best marketing
- Landing pages that make people salivate
- Killer videos that pop and provide tons of value
- Content that’s coveted by everyone else in your space
You can even have a bunch of certifications and be the “best” coach.
Now, chances are you’ve been burned before.
Or at the very least had a poor customer experience.
Because the reality is most of us have.
I have too.
And I can’t tell you the number of coaches I’ve worked with who have been as well.
This is one of the worst experiences as a client.
You finally find a coach that you vibe with.
Their videos are crispy clean.
You love their messaging and how they show up online.
And everything on the outside looks amazing.
Their marketing is ultra on point.
You get on their calendar to hop on a call with them.
But they’re late.
You’re understanding so you don’t hold it against them.
The call goes great and you’re blown away by their ability to sell and connect.
Now you’re stoked.
But after you say yes and pay 4-5 figures for support, something changes.
Your emails aren’t answered as fast.
Your requests for support take longer than they should compared to how much you just invested.
And they made promises on the call that they didn’t deliver on.
What started as you being optimistic about the change on the horizon turned into a complete letdown.
It’s these kinds of lessons that motivated me to be the opposite.
I remember one time I signed up for a group coaching experience that was marketed as exactly the thing I was looking for.
I was so excited because this was a direct answer to my prayers.
But when we all showed up in the room, something unheard of happened.
He changed the promise.
The entire program shifted.
Everyone seemed to be okay with it because it was framed in the context of something better than the promise.
Now I’m not talking about a cheap program either.
It was an 8k.
Needless to say, I didn’t end up working with this coach ever again.
This happens often in the coaching industry.
More people have had negative experiences than positive ones.
So if you want to stand out don’t be that person.
Create an amazing experience for your customers.
While dialing in your messaging and marketing.
Don’t just look good.
Be good.
Be great.
Here’s where to start
Look at every place in your business where there’s potential for drop-off.
- Onboarding clients
- Accessing resources and deliverables
- Weekly check-ins
- How and when you reply to support requests
- Re-enrollment
- Gathering testimonials
- Reviewing work (if you provide any kind of feedback or DFY services)
Any time there is a handoff in your business there’s the potential for error.
Aside from creating a great product or service, drop-off could also happen in these places:
- Your welcome email and how you bring in new subscribers
- Fielding social media comments and DM inquiries
- Replying to application submissions or requests to book a call
Making all of these transition points smooth and infused with your brand voice and values is what will create raving fans.
And raving fans will accelerate your business infinitely more than slick marketing alone.
They will be the ones that tell all of their friends and colleagues about you.
And your calendar will fill up faster than you could ever imagine.
If this one hits home and you know someone who could benefit from reading it, go ahead and forward it to them.
Until next time,
Jeff Agostinelli
