It’s easy to lose steam when you lose sight of why you’re doing what you’re doing.
How many times have you done this?
How many times have you started a project, a new business, a new offer… and you were off to the races.
You hit the ground running with sheer optimism. But over time you start to lose steam because it wasn’t the instant success you hoped it would be.
Instead of keeping your eye on the prize and continuing to adjust, you start noticing what’s not working, feeling defeated, and question what you’re doing.
When this starts happening it’s easy to fall into bad habits of being. Laziness, cutting corners, snide optimism, and the kind of hope that is less than the 51% needed to keep the engine running and moving full steam ahead.
Far less.
Little by little unproductive habits and distractions make their way into your days.
Then into your weeks.
If you’re not careful even months or years.
When you do finally wake up from the trance it’s f’ing painful.
You look back and see that even though you thought you had the best intentions, you were just kidding yourself the whole time.
Instead of finding ways to adjust, to win, to keep moving… you took the slow slide downhill. You were playing to lose all along.
Along the way you got off track. Maybe way off track.
So many quit when they are three feet from gold. Right before things are about to turn the corner.
But this doesn’t have to be you.
You can rebuild the drive, the passion, and the fuel you had when you started.
You can get back on track.
So how do you “know” when you’re back on track? Especially before the revenue starts coming in the door.
Here are a few of my top indicators…
- It’s easy to confidently and certainly say yes or no to activities and opportunities and feel the choice as strengthening or weakening. And you learn from each.
- Your goals are being set and achieved. You’re making progress. You even become more versed and setting goals right in the sweet spot.
- The speed of thought to thing is rapid. Conversations you have are confirming ideas and subtly (or not so subtly:) pointing you in the right direction.
- You’re less distracted and more focused. You can feel that slow build happening internally and you know with every thread of your being that something good is about to pop.
So besides your traditional business growth markers of increased revenue along with emails, texts, and messages from clients and customers saying how much you helped them, these are but a few letting you know you’re heading in the right direction.
I get it though. It’s not always easy to stay on track. And pretending that you’re on course when you’re not does way more harm than good. Besides tricking ourselves into thinking we’re taking the right steps to move things forward, pretending to be further along than you are shuts out any help from your trusted circle of friends and colleagues.
If you’re reading this knowing you’re off course and you know deep down that it’s time to cut the BS and powerfully recommit to your work, to your why, and to yourself, then let’s chat.
Book a time to chat here and we’ll look at where you’ve gotten off track and what it will take to get back on.
