Regret is what happens when we wait too long to get started. We buy into the self-doubt, procrastination, the “someday I will(s).”
But someday never comes and the vision of life becomes something hoped for instead of something being moved toward.
The unimportant and the inconsequential find their way into the day and the pull of our heart gets pushed aside.
Waiting too long turns into regret. And when it gets to that point, there’s no getting that time back.
This is something I said to myself years ago when I started my podcast, writing articles, coaching, and a handful of other creative and business pursuits.
In fact, most people I talk to say the same thing when they get going…
“Why did I wait so long? I wish I started sooner.”
So many times I see service providers and business owners wait WAY too long to roll out a new service or go all in on a current one.
It’s very rarely related to a lack of knowledge.
Yes strategy is important, but that’s the simple part.
The challenge is overcoming the old habits of being, of doubting, of second guessing, of starting something new or different and having to be a “beginner” again.
But everyone has to start somewhere.
Getting started and refining as you go is more productive than waiting until everything is perfect because it’ll never be perfect.
The only way you’ll find out if that thing you’re dreaming about will work is if you do these two things…
#1 – Have clear goals and values.
#2 – Choose to consistently focus, take decisive action, and see what produces results.
It’s always more simple than we think.
We can always take just one step. And then another… and adjust along the way.
While it’s super simple, we all have blindspots. There are habits, beliefs, self-doubt, procrastination, and the inability to manage our time that put a governor on moving forward.
Once you start shifting these old habits, clarity, confidence, and focus become the new norm, the governor comes off, and results follow rapidly.
If this speaks to you and you know that next level is calling you but you’re not quite sure how to get there, let’s chat and map that out.
On this call you and I will dive in and look at what’s working and what’s not working in your life and business and build a map so you can make 2020 your best year yet.
