195: How to Manage Expectations, Exercising Trust, and Removing Resistance

Coaches and Entrepreneurs

Have you ever felt like everything you do should have some kind of return?

  • That every video should have engagement through the roof.
  • That every new offer should have people blowing up your DMs trying to get in.
  • That every sales call should turn into a new client.

And when there’s not a clear and immediate confirmation that what you’re doing is working by some inaccurate standard (likes, comments, everyone saying yes, etc…) you start throwing more shit against the wall hoping something sticks?

And when THAT doesn’t work you…

  • Start to question and overthink everything…
  • Try to put together systems to manage something that isn’t ready for structure…
  • Over react to team and people in your network, burn bridges and relationships that could actually help you in the long run…

Which only leaves you feeling more disconnected, overwhelmed, and frustrated.

The root of this is simpler than you think.

And it comes down to what you think and believe… that every action should have a return. It’s a very Newtonian way of thinking. That every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

And that’s not how it works.

The results come in the wake. Like a boat moving through water or a truck driving down the highway… the impact of the movement isn’t felt in the surrounding till the object passes.

You’ve already put in a good bit of the grunt work. That got you where you are. Now it’s time to focus on the high priority activities, project, habits, and behaviors that will have the highest impact in every other area.

And when you can do this with a high level of trust and release the expectation of instant gratification the resistance you’re feeling will naturally start to lift.

And you’ll feel like you’re moving in alignment all the moving pieces instead of trying to push everything forward by brute force.
