Striving to be perfect is nothing new.
We get it pretty early on. Every family has their dos and don’ts. What they talk about and what they don’t. What you need to do in order to be accepted and loved.
But it’s not for the reason you think.
Usually there’s shame or guilt attached it.
In an attempt to save face, look good, and pretend our shit doesn’t stink, we start to create our life to avoid those things that bring up our feelings of imperfection… of not being enough.
So instead, most people drive the pretty car, keep everything pristine clean, and put on the air that everything is neat… tidy… perfect.
Nothing wrong here.
This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Social media exaggerates all this. The need to look good, save face, and pretend that our shit doesn’t stink. But it’s just like money and power. Neither are bad, it just makes you more of who you are.
If you seek approval in your life and need everyone to be ok with who you are, then you’ll do the same thing here.
This isn’t about social media, but about how we hide what we won’t accept ourselves. And when we can’t accept it, no one else will.
But when we hide parts of who we are, we’re closing ourselves off instead of opening up.
If you’re a business owner this affects your business BIG TIME.
You’ll see “not enoughs” show up…
Not enough time.
Not enough clients.
Not enough money.
Pretty soon, the flow all things is off. The circulation of your business becomes stagnant.
To accept your perceived shortcomings and seeming weaknesses makes you whole not less.
It restores the flow… the natural order of your life and business.
It’s actually pretty cool.
If you don’t get in touch with the actual problem, it won’t change. If you don’t accept it, you’re rejecting it. If you’re rejecting it, you’re pushing away more than the problem. You’re denying the solution.
You know what else. Once you get that shit out, you’ll see…
… you are loved.
… you didn’t need to keep it all to yourself.
… you feel lighter.
… you’re more connected.
… you’re more secure.
And at the end of the day, peace of mind and a restful heart is what puts you back in line with the natural order of things.
