One of the most frustrating things about wanting to achieve so much and feeling compelled to make a difference is the side effect of feeling overwhelmed and being worn out. Always anticipating the next thing. And on top of all that… feeling like it will never get done.
We have packed schedules and instead of being totally present, completing and focusing on the task at hand, our mind races. It juts from one thing to the next. It thinks about…
What we need to get at the store later.
The email that we need to respond to.
The phone call we need to make.
The big project we just decided to take on and what to do first.
Often plotting and planning for the future and likely a remembrance of the past our mind goes a mile a minute and we’re constantly having to ratchet it back to the present moment.
In this process our body feels tense. Our breathing gets shallow, and if you’re not careful, worry sets in.
Can you feel it?
I get it, NONE of us are perfect and contrary to common belief, you don’t need to be. This one gets it’s dirty little paws on me too.
But here’s the thing. There’s a deeper part of us that knows. There’s a stillness below the speedy thoughts. There’s a quiet under the chaos. There’s a flame of passion, drive and energy that’s so much more eternal than the mind can see.
When your mind tries to convince you that there is somewhere else you need to be. Something that needs your attention NOW. That you should be doing something else and the constant onslaught of thought after thought waters down your focus, just remember and remind yourself….
I am doing this and I am exactly where I need to be.
Let the peace wash over you. Let yourself rest in a sense of certainty that there is more than enough time to do everything that needs to get done. Most of all, make sure your body knows that everything is going to be ok.
This combines with your uniquely crafted recipe for breezing through your list of action items and “to-do’s” is your ticket to the power of the peaceful pursuit.
WARNING: This path is not for the faint of heart. It is not for those who give up easily. It’s not for those who retreat at the first seeming sign of defeat.
It is however for those who choose to remain open even when they can shut down. Those who will do whatever it takes. And those that continually raise their standards calling out higher and higher levels of commitment and personal mastery.
