M&M: Beat Procrastination and Market with Intent

Mindset and Marketing for Coaches and Creators

Thursday’s Mindset and Marketing for Coaches and Creators gives you actionable frames on (1) how to think about your business and how you can be more effective and (2) different shifts you can utilize to take your personal brand message and marketing to the next level.

Mindset

Don’t put off till tomorrow what can be done today

This mindset is something I’ve used to overcome very distinct automatic unconscious habits. Two in particular really…

#1 – “I don’t feel like it”
#2 – “I’ll do it tomorrow”

These used to pop up way more often than I care to admit. As a result, I typically fell short of my goals.

In fact, I’d say that these two patterns are largely responsible for one phenomenon you may have experienced. Setting a goal and missing it… month after month after month.

Adopting the mindset of doing the thing now could be a useful strategy to overcome procrastination, a case of the f-its or anything else that keeps you stationary and not moving forward.

Marketing

Your content should have a very clear intent.

Educate
Entertain
Inspire

There are subcategories within these but that’s really not the point. Each piece of content you produce should have a primary objective in one of these categories.

How to posts where you teach some aspect of what you support people with would fall under educate.

Personal stories that show what you’ve moved through and overcome may fall into inspire or educate depending on how you spin it.

Here’s the point…

If what you share is heavily weighted in one direction, balance it out.

I’ve played around with this A LOT in the past few months with some really great results. I noticed that a lot of my content was more how-to and educational.

Once I picked that up, I committed to 30 days to share more personal story posts to connect with readers and viewers.

Shortly after that 30-day period, I had the biggest month in business to date.

More than half of that revenue came from organic social media marketing.

When you sit down to create or when you’re documenting your journey pass what you’re creating through the filter of these different types of content.

If you find that you’re going too heavy in one area, round it out with the other two.

After seeing how well these posts did I created a resource, 10 Days of Transformation – Prompts and Posts, where each day I give you a prompt and line of questioning along with a post I created from that prompt.

There’s also a breakdown of the structure of the post where I show you the hook, how I paint the problem and solution, and make a call to action.

Results speak louder than words

I’d LOVE to hear how you’re applying these strategies and what results you’re seeing. Send in your story or how you put this into practice, and what you say as a result. I’ll publish it in the newsletter. When you do, let me know if you’d prefer to remain anonymous and I’ll just publish the story minus the name.
